Hiking in Mullerthal Trail (Luxembourg)

It was supposed to be a short walk, just to walk the dog.

But we ended up talking with our camping neighbor who informed us that a few minutes hike behind the camping area woud lead us to a trail that is as fascinating as the Grand Canyons in the USA. Well, we have to visit, despite hearing grumblings IC :-)

Staying already at EuroCamping Nommerlayern, this is a chance that we would take!

A Photo Review: EuropaCamping Nommerlayern in Luxembourg

Before the girls' summer vacation ended, we decided to go for a last minute camping in Luxembourg. As usual our priority: dogs allowed, with swimming pool, with restaurant and grocery store, and near the woods.

We found EuropaCamping Nommerlayern after a few days of browsing the internet (we almost ended up in a nude campsite in Luxembourg!)

Here's my photo review:

Visiting the National Museum of Military History in Diekirch, Luxembourg

According to the website of Visit Luxembourg, the National Museum of Military History is  a "reconstruction of the Battle of the Bulge in 1944-45 around Diekirch with slide projections on 1:1 scale, which reflect the personal destiny of civilians and soldiers." It is also supported by supersized dioramas, photos and other war memorabilias.

We found the museum by accident during our day of shopping for souvenirs on a four-day camping trip in Eurocamping Nommerlayern early September.
We pleasantly discovered that dogs are allowed inside the museum, we paid a surprisingly cheap entrance fee and explored the huge ground and building.

This tank is located in the museum ground, near the entrance

Tanks and ammunitions
The girls were encouraged to go inside because of the things that they saw in the museum's card.
Reception area where you could buy original war souvenirs like ammunitions,
stones and relics, odd and pieces of some soldiers' personal items, and other war and memorabilia items.
My girls decided to buy silver coins and a tank model.

Yes, definitely, dogs are allowed, too.

There are a lot of things to see, and you really need time to explore to be able to enjoy the details.

There's also a dog in one of the dioramas depicting the daily rituals of soldiers
Look, there's even a cat, too!

IC's in Middle School

IC's first day in middle school

Today is IC's first day in middle school.

She was excited. She was nervous. But she was ready!

She gratefully accepted her big sister's 'old' school bag for her own use. And as a tradition, at least in our family, she created her very own school cone (Schultüte). The school cone is given to first graders, since it's also her first year in the middle school, she's getting her own school cone. MC got her own a few years back, too.

MC was off to school on her bike a few hours earlier, IC drove with her Papa and I to school. You know, we simply had to accompany her, a special send-off. Though she did question ur presence (why does both of you need to come?); and she immediately found her friends, leaving us on the sideline, upon reaching the school grounds. Oh well, how time flies!

Back home, she received her school cone filled with mini surprises. And she enthusiastically told us about her day, her first day as a middle school girl.
