Our First Harvest

Remember my post a week before that there's life in our garden? Well, it's already harvest time!

At least for our lettuce. We wont need to buy lettuce for a long time as we have enough in our green house. In fact, they are ready for the harvest and we've already created fresh green salad out of them. And to be frank, I was never a green eater but when you taste our lettuce; you would know why I became a convert -- real crispy and fresh and simply more green :D
Harvested and ready to be cleaned for the salad
Here are more of them thriving in our green house
As for the strawberries, they are also coming. I would say another week. The tomatoes we need to wait a little longer. My husband had to give away most of them as he said we wont have enough space in the green house. You see, it is still too cold to be planting outside. He doesnt want to take the risk.
Here's our strawberry patch.
And look closely, the strawberries are coming!
As for the cucumber, sadly, it is taking a long time. The corns arent really there. The melon we hardly see. But the dill and the parsley we've already used most of them.

It is amazing watching the garden with growing things. And the benefits we get.

A garden at home is a wonderful thing. I grew up with a garden in our back yard. Freshest vegtables you will ever have!

I love the blooms of Strawberries. So cute. The thought of fresh stawberries makes my mouth water.

I have a black thumb so we have no garden. I kill every plant by over loving them.

mommasworld - having a garden is fun but to be frank with you, i dont tend to them; it is my husband who's got the green thumb. i dont want to try my hand, not yet, as i do want to reap the benefits i am seeing now :D

lady cess - sometimes i myself are still amazed of what we have in the garden

toni - wow, kangkong in a pot! pwede patikim ng adobong kangkong? might try that too. as of now we have petchay from thailand but we dont know if they would thrive.

vk - am sorry to hear about your mom. i hope everything would be okay soon. am praying for you. and thanks for visiting kahit na busy ka.

The lettuce looks good! And if I had strawberries growing in the back, I wouldn't be able to wait a week:)

congrats for that bountiful harvest of greens. tamang tama yan for green salad. konting VOO lang at dressing, good as healthy meal na yan.

we also grow veggies in our backyard. yung sa amin naman, more on herbs--basil, oregano, chilis, meron ding tomatoes at papaya. everytime we harvest, I made sure I cooked them right. iba na rin ang sarili mong tanim diba?

joanne - just like IC, she tend to stay in front of the strawberry patch and plead to them to grow and be red quickly, hahaha

feng - awww, you have also a garden? good to hear that. kasi sa tin kapag may space pa tinatayuan agad ng bahay e, masarap ang benefit ng may sariling veggie garden.
