Rain, Rain, Go Away

This week is supposed to be the start of summer. I brought the kids to kindergarden (yes, pasukan na ulit!) wearing their summer dresses. And when I picked them up again at noon time, it was really cloudyl. I hurried the kids but midway to our walk home, it rained!

Since it was warm, despite the drizzle, we decided to just enjoy the sensation of being wet. We cant always do this here, of course. My eldest just started singing 'rain, rain, go away, come again another day, little children want to play.' Until all three of us are singing like crazy. She began running fast to our front door, yelling, 'Mama, please bring the chalks outside, we must draw lots and lots of smiling sun so that the rain would stop.'

I guess she remembered. As I always told her, during my childhood, back in warm Manila, we always tried to chase the rain away by singing this song. And by painting the whole sidewalk and the streets with the smiling sun. It was not always effective, but this time, we were lucky!
